Douglas MacArthur - Matthew Ridgway Signatures
Douglas MacArthur and Matthew Ridgway Signature Display. This handsome green and black display features two legendary figures in the United States Army, Douglas MacArthur and Matthew B. Ridgway. Framed to an overall size of 25" x 21" the display houses two separate pieces, one from each general. The first is a signed black and white photograph of General MacArthur, measuring 6.25" x 5" and is signed on the lower border on a white piece of paper as: Douglas MacArthur in dark black ink. Below this image of MacArthur riding in an Army jeep along with three other men, is a fancy engraved seal of the United States Army. This dapper seal coupled with the dark green matting make this display quite pleasing aesthetically. The second item is a Matthew Ridgway typed letter signed. Signed as: M.B. Ridgway, one page, 7.5" x 8", np, December 26, 1950. It is a printed copy of a general order that was issued when he assumed command during the Korean War, and reads: "I have with little notice, assumed heavy responsibilities before in battle, but never with greater opportunities for service to our loved ones and our nation in beating back a world menace which free men cannot tolerate. It is an honored privilege to share this with you and with our comrades of the Navy and Air Force. You will have my utmost. I shall expect yours." These two men fought together in World War II and are two of the most legendary Army figures of all time. This display allows them both to be honored in the same glance. Both pieces are in fine condition; the letter is in crisp mint-like shape; the photograph has some light overall toning.
