Caption “Fall plowing on the experimental farm of the Heffern Mining and Developing Company, twenty miles north of the city of Douglas.” Photograph measures 10”x8”, gray single matte—staining on the right side and general wear around the edges 14”x12”, medium contrast—tends toward the grays and the focus is sharp. Photo suffers from some foxing. Photographers identified as the Carson Brothers. Ambrose and Hugh Carson collaborated in Douglas, 1907, and again after 1915. In this photo men are working plows at an experimental farm. A horse and stage sit idle in the background. Heffern Mining was located in Douglas and run by engineer, Albert Heffern. Douglas was founded as a smelter town servicing the copper ores that came out of Bisbee.
