Double barrel 10 gauge exposed hammer shotgun by Baker Arms Company shortened to Express or messenger size remaining in good to very good condition, serial number 32773. Baker Arms Company was purchased about the turn-of-the-century by L.C. Smith. The barrels retain 80% to 90% of their original brown and show a good Damascus pattern. The frame shows 30% to 50% case hardening drifting to a light gray brown. The stocks have been lightly refinished and professionally re-checkered. The forend is an old well-made replacement. The trigger guard is broken just behind the tang screw with a piece missing. The butt stock is drilled for a sling swivel which is missing and the barrel shows an old sling swivel attached to the bottom side of the rib which is period and handmade by a gunsmith. The action is good, the bores are dark and dirty but look as if they would clean nicely. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $250-$500.
