Double Indemnity (Paramount, 1944). Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Every actor certainly has regrets about roles not taken, but George Raft must have more than his share of regrets. He single-handedly provided Humphrey Bogart with a career by turning down "High Sierra," "The Maltese Falcon" (Raft's name can be found in early scripts) and even "Casablanca." Billy Wilder also had trouble casting the lead of insurance agent Walter Neff after Raft turned down this film, but fortunately, Fred MacMurray ably handles the role. After the dark role of a man seduced into murdering a woman's husband, MacMurray went on to lighter roles on television and live-action Disney films, a career that Raft might have envied. This lobby card features MacMurray and femme fatale Barbara Stanwyck in a passionate embrace, a happier time before murder, distrust and Edward G. Robinson intervened. The card has a few pinholes and slight wear in the corners, but even with a light abrasion, the image looks great. Very Fine+.
