Balloon that became the first balloon to cross the Atlantic Ocean when it landed on August 17, 1978, in Miserey near Paris, 137 hours six minutes after leaving Presque Isle, Maine. Limited edition flight flown commemorative air mail cover, 9.4 x 4, #373/1000, signed in ink and felt tip by crew members Maxie Anderson, Ben Abruzzo, and Larry Newman. Cover is postmarked August 11, 1978, Presque Isle, Maine, as well as an August 17, 1978 postmark from Miserey, France. Cover comes in its original presentation folder with a printed biography of the trip and an actual 1.75 x 1 swatch of the actual Double Eagle II balloon fabric. In fine condition.
