Fabulous-looking, extremely hard-to-find "portrait" humidor executed by the Edward W. Donath Studio. Depicts a dapper gentleman, perhaps a Scotsman, appropriately dressed in a smoking jacket, getting ready to toke on a long-stemmed pipe. The portrait was painted and signed by the well-known artist, A. (Adolph J.) Heidrich. Stands approximately 5 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" across the widest spot. Hand painted finish is in very good-to-excellent condition. Only flaw is a shallow chip on the UNDERSIDE of the humidor, along the bottom rim. Close up photo provided. When sitting on a flat surface, it is virtually undetectable. Bottom is stamped with the remnants of Donath Mark #3, a paper label used between 1906 and 1910, as well as Mark #6, found in use from 1910 to 1915. In light of the overlapping time frames, execution of this magnificent piece can be pinpointed to about 1910. Member, Pickard Collectors Club.
