Donath Hand Painted Porcelain Cylinder Vase with Roses
A finely hand painted porcelain cylinder vase signed Donath, attributed to the E. & W. Donath Studio of New York, active during the early 20th century. The tall, cylindrical form is decorated with lush crimson roses against a gradient ground that fades from rich green at the top to soft butter yellow at the base. The top rim is finished with a wide band of burnished gold, adding elegance and contrast to the naturalistic floral design. The underside bears the red stamped mark "Hand Painted - China - E. & W. Donath", as well as remnants of the original retailer's paper label. Donath was a highly regarded decorating studio that produced fine hand-painted china for the American market, often working on blank porcelain imported from Europe. This vase is an excellent example of early 20th-century American hand-painted porcelain artistry, appealing to collectors of Donath Studio and Art Nouveau floral designs.
