World War II Air Force pilot (1920–1951) who was the first to break Eddie Rickenbacher's World War I record of 26 downed aircraft. Fountain pen signature, “To Col. Gene Stone, Kindest Regards, Capt. Don Gentile,” on an off-white 5.5 x 3.25 government postcard. In fine condition, with light toning and a brush to the end of his signature. One of the few exemplars we have seen! Accompanied by an unsigned copy of his biography.
