Everett Fahy believes this roundel to be a fragment of the altarpiece formerly in the collection of Johann II. prince of Liechtenstein (from the summer palace in the Rossau, Vienna), sold in 1932,"which I examined in the years 2000 when it belonged to a private collector." Berenson ("Pitture italiane del Rinascimento, Milano,1936, p. 287) listed it as Mainardi, but "I am inclined to classify it.. as workshop of Domenico Ghirlandaio". This orig. fragment measures 35 x 28 cm and is set in a round oak panel. The top of the hair has been overpainted to an extent of 17 x 2 cm.
