The total winning bid for Dom’s telephone conversation will be donated to Rising Star Outreach, a 501(c) 3 charity that provides services to people afflicted with leprosy in India and their children. Rising Star provides medical care to 34 leprosy colonies in Tamil Nadu, India, and has a school for 150 children whose parents have leprosy. Without this education, these children will be relegated to begging for money on the street to survive. Rising Star also administers a micro-loan program that is helping more than 1,000 individuals and families start their own small businesses so they can break the cycle of poverty and stop begging.
