Dodge Brothers Factory Notebook. Original man
Dodge Brothers Factory Notebook. Original manuscript notebook kept by a worker in the Electrical Department at Dodge Brothers plant c. 1923, presumed Detroit, his inscription appearing to be Boyd Candlish. 4 1/2 x 7, leather, 3-ring notebook, alphabetical dividers, stuffed to the gills with material, including 11 pp. preprinted blueprint schematics with tables, lined paper with mathematical and physical formulæ, several pp. of manuscript information on electrical operations (some identified as Dodge Brothers). Including several copies (and two negatives) of photo of a piece of equipment; nine original photos, 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 each, mounted to blank pages, of factory electrical equipment, including one with caption, "Part of the 'Gang,' D.B. Electrical Dept., Dec. 8, 1923," plus 2 blank pp. with "Dodge Brothers Motor Vehicles" watermarks, and other related and unrelated information, newspaper articles, etc. Rough condition, many pages torn at holes, edge toned, cover heavily rubbed, but a unique item. Dodge's 1923 models offered the auto industry's first all-steel bodies; by 1924, Dodge was the number 3 nameplate.
