Documented U.S. Colt Cavalry Model Single Action Army Revolver

Manufactured in 1875 and subsequently refurbished by Colt in 1895. This revolver is listed by serial number on page 43 under the listing "New York Militia issues within the 1875 Sub-Inspected series" of "Colt Cavalry and Artillery Revolvers" by John Kopec and H. Sterling Fenn. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address and the underside is marked "C/P" directly ahead of the cylinder pin. The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, two patent dates followed "U.S.". The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "1379". The cylinder is marked with the letter "P" and "C", and there is a letter "C" below the serial number on the trigger guard. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard, back strap and on the barrel under the ejector housing and on the cylinder. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, "bulls-eye" ejector rod head and fitted with a smooth one-piece walnut grip absent of any inspection cartouche.

Condition: Very good as partially restored (butt). The revolver retains 25% Colt refurbished blue finish, mainly in the protected areas with a smooth brownish gray patina on the balance. The grip is very good with some minor lower edge wear and a few small minor dings. The markings are clear. The butt has been renumbered to match revolver professionally. The action is fine.
