The first production of the 357 Magnum double action revolver built on a five screw N target frame. These .357 Magnums were introduced in 1935 and was a custom manufactured revolver. Smith & Wesson produced about 5,500 Registered Magnums before production was stopped because it was deemed to costly to manufacture the revolvers, which at the time sold for $60. Standard markings and "REG 3440" marked on the yoke. The top of the rib and top strap are finely checkered, finely checkered casehardened hammer and serrated trigger, both marked "REG. U.S. PAT. OFF." Pinned front blade sight and adjustable rear sight and fitted with checkered walnut magna grips with silver S&W medallions. The accompanying factory letter verifies the serial number, registration number, 8 3/4 inch barrel, patridge front and square notch rear sights, blue finish and magna grips. The letter also states that the revolver was returned to the factory in December of 1976 for refinishing in blue. Complete with an original two piece purple box with gold markings and an image of the revolver on the lid.
