Third Model Manufactured in 1882. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/King's improvement patent dates, the upper tang is marked "{MODEL 1876}" and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 800 yards. The cleaning rod is mounted on the left side of the forearm and there is a bayonet lug on the right side of the forend cap. Mounted with a full walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a carbine buttplate. There is a sling swivel on the barrel band and on the stock. The right side of the stock has a deep stamped unrecognizable marking and the number "13". The accompanying factory letter verifies the musket configuration, that it was received in the warehouse on November 20, 1882 and shipped out as 1 of 400 on order number 35449, November 22, 1882. The destination is not given, but it was probably shipped to Hawaii to arm the Citizens Guard as a number of these muskets were shipped to Hawaii in 1882. (The condition of the metal looks like it would substantiate this assumption).
BBL: 32 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 45-75
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 31019
Condition: Good. The metal surfaces have a smooth dark mottled patina over light pitting overall with some bright high edge areas. The wood is also good with scattered minor dents and scratches associated with a gun of this age. The markings are readable. The action is fine. Winchester Model 1876 Muskets are extremely rare in any condition!
