Originally manufactured in 1973. This pistol has a frame configuration inspired by the Government Model. The frame has been milled ahead of the trigger guard and has an experimental trigger, trigger guard and frame. It is fitted with a Match Target barrel giving a total length of 6 inches and conventional slide with an adjustable Elliason target sight. The back strap has been arched and a piece has been added to the front strap to give it a look of the Government Model pistol. The frame was left in the white and the remaining parts are blue. Fitted with checkered walnut grips with right hand thumb rest. The accompanying factory letter verifies it as an experimental prototype, serial number, caliber, originally having a 4 inch barrel, blue and in-the-white finish, checkered thumb rest grips, experimental trigger, trigger guard, Match Target barrel, Elliason sight on conventional slide, frame modification inspired by the Government Model and that it was shipped on October 16, 2008. The remarks state that "Subject pistol was an experimental prototype kept as a sample by the Colt factory."
BBL: 6 inch flat sided
Stock:
Gauge: 22 LR
Finish: blue/bright
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 042495S
Condition: Very fine. The barrel and slide retain 95% plus original blue finish with some edge wear, and bright scratches and small area of light spotting on the slide, and a few minor scuffs on the matte surface. The bright areas have a smooth brown patina. The grips are fine. They have been modified by sanding the lower rear portions down and there is finish and checkering loss in those areas. There is a moderate chip on the left upper front panel and overall a few minor dings and the remaining checkering is crisp. Mechanically excellent. A unique experimental pistol with a frame inspired by the Government Model.
