This is the only known Rider's patent Remington Vest Pocket pistol chambered for 38 RF with experimental Rider split breech. The pistol is unmarked, with the metal having been left in the white and a silver inlaid border around the sides of the frame and on the muzzle. Blade front and frame notch rear sights, with a serrated hammer, smooth block trigger and fitted with smooth two piece walnut grips. Formerly of the William Locke Collection (pictured on pages 338 and 339) of that book, and appearing on the cover of "Remington Handguns" by Karr. This pistol was purchased from Locke's estate by Dr. S. Karl Spryidon. This pistol received a NRA silver medal for Top Ten Display (#252, included with lot), and comes with a copy of a letter from Dr. Spryidon detailing his purchase of the pistol.
