Documented New York Militia Buy-Out First Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver with John Kopec Letter

Manufactured in 1899. "8", "NY" and "12" are stamped on butt. "RH" is marked in a star on the right grip. The 1987 Kopec letter discusses this revolver by serial number as part of a potential shipment to the New York Militia and specifically states that it is one of only three known that Kopec felt were potentially legitimate based on his survey data. It is pictured and discussed on pages 132, 133, and 138 of "Colt Cavalry and Artillery Revolvers. . .a Continuing Study" by Kopec and Fenn (1994) and is identified as a New York Militia "Buy-Out" revolver and as shipped to Hartley and Graham in New York on February 23, 1899.
