Documented Luftwaffe Contract 1937 Dated Krieghoff Luger Rig with German Merchant Marine Wooden Storage Box

This is an excellent example of aN original, pre-war Krieghoff Luger that is complete with two matching magazines, holster, takedown tool and an ultra rare German Merchant Marine storage box as pictured on page 135 of the book "Third Reich Lugers" by Still. It is theorized that these boxes were intended to be secured in some area of the German merchant marine ship. This specific Luger is also listed on page 73 of the book "The krieghoff Parabellum" by Gibson. These Krieghoff Lugers all featured the high polish commercial blue finish with straw colored small parts. It is estimated that approximately 2,500 Lugers were produced in 1937 with this example having the 1937 dated chamber area with the C-2 type die marking on the toggle that consist of "H-K anchor/Krieghoff/Suhl" which has the letter "I" over the letter "S" in Suhl with the slightly angled letter "U" with the right corner faulted. The right side of the barrel extension has the early Luftwaffe "LWaA" 1st-stage II inspection and acceptance proofs. The barrel is correctly marked on the underside with the bore diameter, "LWaA" inspection proof then the serial number along with a second Luftwaffe barrel proof on the right side. The full serial number is on the front left side of the barrel extension, bottom of barrel, front of the frame, and the last two digits of the serial number "32" are on the trigger, breech bolt, takedown lever, thumb safety lever, backside of the side plate, and toggle assembly. The extractor and safety are correctly marked "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" respectively. It is fitted with a correct pair of unmarked brown plastic grips with the coarse checkering with no mold marks or proofs as used by the Krieghoff factory starting in mid-1936. This excellent pistol has two original matching (renumbered) magazines that have the nickel plated body with the aluminum bases. The bases are re-marked "8132 and 8132/+" with the correct upside down Luftwaffe "Eagle/2" proof on each magazine. This rig is accompanied by an unmarked black leather holster with black thread that has a single "LWaA2" proof on the back inner wall with an original Luger takedown tool, that also has a single "LWaA2" proof. This excellent pistol rig is also accompanied by an original and very rare, 1936 dated Luger field manual, that provides disassembly instruction and a fold out exploded view.

Very fine with 97% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The various small parts retain 98% of their refurbished straw colors. The brown plastic grips are in excellent condition with nice sharp checkering on both sides with minimal handling marks. The holster is also in excellent condition with a nice shinny dark black leather finish with tight stitching overall. The Luftwaffe proof is clear and sharp. The wooden box is also in excellent condition with nice black painted markings on top and inside the lid with all the hinges and metal reinforcing bands in excellent condition. A really nice example of a very scarce and desirable pre-war Luftwaffe Krieghoff Luger rig with and even rarer Merchant Marine wooden storage box.
