Documented Historic World War II U.S. Army Contract .380 Caliber Colt M1908 Semi-Automatic Pistol Owned by Brigadier General Terence J. Tully with Two Early General Officers Leather Holsters, Belt and Buckle

This is an exceptional example of a "U.S. Property" marked Colt Model 1908 Pocket Hammerless Pistol, in the desirable .380 ACP caliber as manufactured in 1945. This pistol was eventually issued to or acquired by Brig. Gen. Terence John Tully, Signal Corp in 1945/46. This pistol is accompanied by a short biography of BG Tully along with tours of duty, service schooling, a listing of decorations, a photograph of BG Tully and a notarized letter from his grandson, stating that this pistol remained in their family until 2010, when he sold it. BG Tully was born January 12, 1900 at Fort Monroe Virginia and graduated West Point in July 1920. He served numerous state side tours and one overseas tour in June 1943. He returned to the United States in late 1944 and was appointed as the Director, Distribution Division of the Procurement and Distribution Service, Office of the Chief Signal Officer. He later was appointed as the Commanding General, Army Services Force Training Center, Camp Crowder MO., in November 1945. This pistol has a commercial blue finish and is fitted with checkered walnut grips with silver-plated Colt Medallions. The frame is marked "U.S. PROPERTY" with the small Cross-Cannon US Ordnance proof on the left side. The slide has the later flat top rear sight and standard front sight blade. The left side of the slide is marked with the two line Colt address and patent dates of 1897 and 1903, with the Rampant Colt trademark behind the slide serrations. The right side is roll marked "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE .380 HAMMERLESS". The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with the Colt "VP" proof, with the right side stamped with the Colt sub inspector proof of "65". The left side of the frame is marked with the serial number above the trigger guard. The magazine is blue and the floor plate is marked "CAL.380/COLT". This lot also includes two original General Officers holsters; 1-Type I for the .380 Automatic and a Type II holster for a Colt M1911A1 pistol (not-included with this lot) along with an original General Officer's matching brown leather belt and GO Belt Buckle. Both holsters and the belt are constructed of a shiny, almost pattern leather material with a light brown stitching with brass rivets. Although unmarked both are attributed to the Atchison Leather Holster Co.

Excellent with 98% of the blue finish overall with some scattered minor pin-prick rust spots starting on the left upper transition line of the slide with some slightly more visible very small pitted spots on the right front portion of the slide. The walnut grips are both in excellent condition with a nice matching dark brown color overall with nice original distinct checking on both sides. Mechanically excellent. The Type II holster and belt are both in excellent condition with tight stitching. The holster is in very fine condition with nice matching color and tight stitching overall with some minor handling marks with some wrinkling/cracking of the leather on the lower section of the holster, probably from where it was sat on some time.
