According to the included factory letter, this revolver was sent as a single gun shipment to L.N. Neel care of Simmons Hardware Company of St. Louis on March 15, 1894. With the exception of the "Not Listed" grips, all features are confirmed by the letter, including the factory engraving and "J.R.P." backstrap inscription. Blade front and notch rear sights with the two line Hartford address on top of the barrel and caliber markings on the left side, with a crescent-style ejector. Black powder frame, marked with the two line, three date patents on the left side next to the circled Rampant Colt. Matching numbers on the grip straps, "O" above the striker hole and "246" on the loading gate. Overall engraving style is scroll designs with punch-dot backgrounds, showing zig-zag and dot borders, alternating scrolls and burst patterns on the chambers, burst designs on the recoil shield and the top of the backstrap, and panels around the barrel markings and on the backstrap, the inscribed "J.R.P.". Checkered hard rubber grips, with Rampant Colt logos at the tops and "FRANK" scratched into the butt. If this Colt could talk, what a remarkable story it could tell!
