The accompanying factory letter states that this pistol was retained by the Colt factory as an experimental prototype and sample of the Woodsman Target Model pistol and lists the "unusual" features as a wide slide, variant locking device on the left side of the frame, doubling as safety that disengages the trigger, unusual grip frame profile, knurled bolt for takedown on the front of the frame, a newly configured smooth trigger with a light trigger pull and a heavier overall weight that the standard post-war production pistol. The letter also verifies the caliber, barrel length, with open sights and the one line address, (marked on the left side), blue finish with matte slide top and partial frame, smooth oil-finished walnut grips, "Special Features" no slide and frame markings and without magazine, and that it was shipped on October 16, 2008. The serial number "GX4576X" is marked on the right side of the frame.

Condition: Very fine. The pistol retains 95% original blue finish with some minor muzzle and edge wear, some light spotting and a few tiny dings on the barrel and some flaking on the left side of the frame. The grips are good with some wear and chips on the lower edges, and overall a few minor dings and scratches. The barrel marking is crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. No magazine as stated above.
