This unique Parker VHE shotgun is documented as being made up from available parts at the Remington factory after WWII when Remington was no longer building Parker Shotguns. A typed letter from Larry DelGrego on his letter head, dated August 13, 1973 states that he and Bob Runge, the original Parker engraver, made this gun for a personal friend of DelGrego's, Bill Parsons, who in turn sold it to a Mr. Duncan. Parsons at the time was the Chief Buyer for Remington Arms Co. and made many trips to Missouri-Iowa Walnut to purchase wood. The letter states "I made this gun up from scratch for my personal friend, Bill Parsons..." The letter further states that Bob Runge did the engraving specially for this gun and that "at the time I was afraid to put a standard grade on these guns as I thought I was infringing on Remington patents." In part Del Grego concludes "Therefore you can call this gun special made by DelGrego and Bob Runge". The shotgun features double ivory bead sights on the concave solid matte rib with the one line address, "Vulcan Steel" marked at the breech end of the rib. The barrels gauge at full/modified, with 2 3/4" chambers and ejectors. The barrels and trigger guard are blue, the action and break lever casehardened and the triggers are bright. The action has floral scroll engraving with a quail in a field scene on the left side, a pheasant in a field scene on the right and a round panel on the bottom with a hunting dog in tall grass on point. The bottom of the action is engraved "PARKER". The fences have a relief floral design with a punch dot background. There is a 1 1/2" wedge of floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the breech ends of the barrels. The water table is marked with the two line Parker patent marking on the right side and "VH" over the serial number over "V" on the left. The barrel flats have several letter markings. The shotgun is mounted with checkered extra fancy walnut beaver tail forearm and pistol grip stock with checkered tear drop flats, hard rubber Parker Bros. grip cap, checkered hard rubber Parker Bros. dogs head buttplate and gold initial oval. The checkering has fancy bordering. LOP 14".

The trigger guard retains virtually all of the original blue finish and the action, break lever and forearm knuckle retain 99% plus bright case colors. The forearm latch assembly retains most of the original case colors fading to gray on the flat surfaces. The wood is also excellent with some very mild crazing of the varnish in areas of the stock, otherwise only light handling/storage marks and sharp checkering. The engraving is crisp. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically excellent.
