This is a unique, museum quality 44" tall, 92" long M9 universal military design project display board. This display board illustrates the four year research and development project conducted by the U.S. military and the Bianchi Company. The objective was to produce a military handgun carry system for the then newly adopted Beretta 9 mm M9 pistol. The project required a holster system to be shock resistant, secure but comfortable, ambidextrous, and functional in all climate conditions. The result was the Bianchi M9 holster system or M12 holster (commercial versions are UM84 and UM92). This Bianchi display border depicts the research and development that went in to achieving the finial product. It shows every variation in the holster's development process, the trial and error, and the different materials that were tested in development and final versions of the M12. In other words, the board illustrates the evolution of the now successful M9 holster system. The display board was used in Bianchi's marketing brochure and is pictured in Dennis Adler's book JOHN BIANCHI: AN AMERICAN LEGEND, 50 YEARS OF GUNLEATHER on page 67 with a photo of the brochure on page 73.The board is covered in tan felt with the items secured to the board via mounting tape. Also includes a Bianchi display label, two factory cardboard holster shelving hangers, and other small components.
