Document Referring to Ponce de Leon
Document Referring to Ponce de Leon, two handwritten pages, in Spanish, 8.5” x 12.25”, front and verso, partly printed on front, 1641. Spanish conquistador Juan Ponce de Leon (c. 1460-1521) joined Christopher Columbus on his second voyage to the New World in 1493 and was appointed First Governor of Puerto Rico in 1508. He is also credited with the first European voyage to Florida, where he is said to have searched for the “Fountain of Youth.” The name “Ponce de Leon” is clearly discernible at the bottom of the first page. In fair condition: some of the ink has faded to brown; some foxing, light soiling, staining, and insect damage, though the majority of the writing is clearly legible.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
