Disney Mary Poppins Pearl Band Animation Drawings
Disney's Academy-Award winning "Mary Poppins" (1964) was one of Walt's last own personal triumphs. Ironically, P.L. Travers, a rather dyspeptic English woman who wrote the original novel, told Walt at the premiere that she didn't like it, and that he should get rid of all those songs! Luckily for all of us, Walt politely declined her suggestions! And speaking of the music, perhaps one of the most popular of the animation characters is the Pearly Band. This is an amazing set of original production pencil drawings from the Mary Poppins Disney animator's of three of those iconic musicians. The set shows the progression from a rough idea to a more detailed character study of "Mr. Bones", plus a detailed study of the "Violin Player", and the "Tambourine Player". They are drawn on oversized registration keyed animation paper, with the numbers "265" and "7" written by the animator's on the lower right hand corner. The paper shows some signs of patina (it's almost fifty years old, after all!). Comes with a COA. (Both animation drawings are 15.5"x12.5".
