Featured in this lot is this Dirk Van Erp hammered copper vanity box circa 1925. The vanity box is wonderfully and professionally crafted hammered copper construction that shows multiple compartments attached to the lid and a circular cut out for storage. The outside of the vanity box with a wrought iron look to the adornments to the lid and is marked on the underside of the vanity box as follows : San Fransisco - Dirk Van Erp. Dirk Koperlager van Erp (1862–1933) was a Dutch American artisan, coppersmith and metalsmith, best known for lamps made of copper with mica shades, and also for copper vases, bowls and candlesticks. He was a prominent participant in the Arts and Crafts Movement, and was active in Oakland and San Francisco, California.
The condition of this box is this is good with some patina to the side walling of the box and to the lid of the box but otherwise shows good overall condition. The measurements of this box is 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 5 1/4". The collective weight of this box is 2lb 2oz.
