Dinner at Eight (MGM, 1933). Title Lobby Card (11 X 14 Dinner at Eight (MGM, 1933).
Dinner at Eight (MGM, 1933). Title Lobby Card (11" X 14"). Producer David O. Selznick gathered some of the greatest talent at MGM for this George Cuckor-helmed farce. A social butterfly (Billie Burke) and her husband (Lionel Barrymore) invite a corrupt executive (Wallace Beery) and his wife (Jean Harlow), a washed-up screen idol (John Barrymore), and a former theater actress/"professional guest" (Marie Dressler), among others, to a dinner party. Of course, various permutations of coupling occurs, with various suicides, betrayals and terminal illnesses adding to the levity. This title card has crease marks in the corners, a small tear on the right side and a large tape-repaired tear on the top edge that runs into Dressler's name. The borders show no stains or dirt, and the rest of the image area -- featuring a head shot of every star -- is clean. Fine+.
