Dinner at Eight (MGM, 1933). Lobby Cards (2) (11" X 14"). After winning the previous year's Best Picture Oscar, MGM tried to duplicate the success of its own "Grand Hotel" by casting many of their stars in one film. Director George Cukor plays ringleader to the three-ring circus of Jean Harlow, Wallace Beery, Lionel Barrymore, Billie Burke, John Barrymore and Marie Dressler. Although she made one more film before her death, this film remains remembered as one of Dressler's finest moments. The matronly Dressler appears in an expansive, shimmering red gown in one of the lobby cards in this set, and the other card features John Barrymore's famous profile. These two cards are completely unspoiled, in about as perfect a condition as can be hoped, with the original paper sleeve included. This title is regarded as one of the most difficult in the entire MGM library to find original paper on. Near Mint+.
