Well-respected Greek-born conductor and composer (1896–1960) who led, among other ensembles, the Minneapolis Symphony and the New York Philharmonic, and who was one of the young Leonard Bernstein’s most important mentors. Vintage 10 x 8 lightweight photo of Mitropoulos reading over sheet music, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Miss J. Willis Sayre, D. Mitropoulos 1956.” In very good condition, with scattered surface marks and rubbing, and light crazing to finish.
