Diminutive silver mounted flintlock boy’s shotgun signed “Le Page a Paris” with royal provenance, measures 45-1/4” overall with 30-1/2” barrel. Approx. 28ga. or .52caliber smooth bore, of light weight with fancy silver mountings, original fabric over leather cheek piece, engraved with royal crest at wrist. Royal provenance: Crest is that of Philip, Duke of Parma, son of Philip V of Spain. Physical Description: The gun remains in good original condition showing a grey to brown patina finish, some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting, and some areas of pitting around firing area. The metal surfaces show use and firing. The breech end of the barrel was nicely gold inlaid of which approx. 20% remains. Also there was gold inlay around the front sight, which is mostly missing. The barrel shows fine quality and is mostly faceted at the edges, or 16-sided. The gun shows a period resurfacing of the frizzen indicating it was a favorite and well-used. The original hammer, small parts, are well retained, and the lock is also signed on the bottom edge beneath the frizz
