The following four works come from the collection of Rose Alschuler of Highland Park, Illinois. A consummate collector, Rose Alschuler had personal relationships with many of the artists whose work she collected. These drawings were acquired directly from Diego Rivera in Mexico City in the late thirties. Ms. Alschuler visited Rivera more than once, and her sister Marian had her portrait painted by Diego during one visit. The works on paper show Rivera's fluid approach to image making, and clearly illustrate his admiration for the worker, the foundation of any Marxist ideology. The four works presented here have remained in the Alschuler Family collection since their acquisition. Signed and dated 'Diego Rivera, 1936' lower left. Framed.
