(Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation, 1995) This prop Empire State Building Miniature was acquired for the production for use by Bruce Willis as "John McClane". The prop miniature was used in two scenes, neither of which made the final cut of the film. The first scene involved the miniature being used as a holder for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York bathroom key. The second scene was an alternate ending, the prop miniature was repainted to look as if it was made from gold underneath the silver paint. In the scene, the miniature was used by Bruce Willis, as "John McClane", as he finds Simon Gruber in a bar and proceeds to explain how he figured out his plan. He scratches the silver paint on this miniature to reveal the gold underneath and tells Simon he knows he melted down the gold from the robbery and made these miniature buildings to smuggle it out of the country and get away. The prop miniature stands 5.25" tall and is made of metal with the gold and silver paint still applied from filming. This was the only prop of its kind used during filming and comes with a letter from the prop master that worked on the film, confirming its use during filming.
