[Dictionary - multi-language] - Colloquia et dictionariolum septem linguarum, Belgicae, Anglicae, Teutonicae, Latinae, Italicae, Hispanicae, Gallicae (...) = Colloques ou dialogues, auec un Dictionaire, en sept languages (... = Colloquien oft tsamen sprekinghen, met eenen Vocabulaer in seuen spraken (...). Liège, H. Hovius, 1589 (col.: 1591), oblong 8vo, contemp. limp vellum (loosening), [280] ff. (somewhat browning, traces of use, minor dampstain). Very good copy. Cfr. ill. € 1100/1500 Unrecorded variant edition/issue. Editions are recorded with "1589" on titlepage (BT 672, PF 338) and with "1591" on title and "1589" in colophon (BT 8076, PF 339, Machiels). This edition, however, has 1589 on title and 1591 in colophon !! The first edition (Dutch-French) appeared c. 1530 and was continously expanded. The present version consists of 7 dialogues (at dinner-table, on buying and selling etc.), 1 text on letterwriting, an alphabetical dictionary arranged after the Dutch, and a short treatise on pronounciation and spelling.
