Dick Sprang and Charles Paris - Original Art for Batman #56 Complete 14-page story "Ride, Bat-Hombre, Ride!" (DC, 1949). For Batman fanatics everywhere, Heritage Comics is proud to present a truly momentous occasion: offered here, in three separate lots, is the original art to the complete book from Batman #56, three classic tales of the Caped Crusader from the vintage years of the Golden Age. First up is the cover story, the off-beat "Ride, Bat-Hombre, Ride!" in which Batman and Robin head south of the border to train a local man to become a crimefighter like them, even providing him the costume and utility belt necessary to do the job; in other words, setting up the first Batman franchise! Things go sour, however, when the best candidate turns out to be an undercover crook. A precursor of sorts to the wild, oddball stories that would proliferate in Batman in the '50s, "Ride, Bat-Hombre, Ride!" is plenty of goofy fun, with outstanding artwork by the classic team of Dick Sprang and Charles Paris; every page of this wonderful story is a gem, and having them all together is sure to drive any Batman fan to distraction. Signed by Dick Sprang on pages 2 and 6, and by Paris on page 6. Excellent condition overall, light tanning around edges.
