Diamonds are not Forever. Oversize, elaborate
Diamonds are not Forever. Oversize, elaborate deluxe Nazi publication, Die Kunst im Deutschen Reich, Oct. 1942, "6 Jahrgang [year of publication], Folge 10, Ausgabe A." Dramatic Bauhaus cover artwork of Teutonic knight and Nazi eagle clutching swastika, in simulated bronze and turquoise. 11 x 14 1/4 , issued by Zentralverlag der NSDAP, Munich, and edited by Albert Speer. Eccentrically paginated but (18) pp., sewn. Full-color plates on matte art enamel, showing Nazi tapestry, an appointment, different styles of folding presentation slipcases in increasing levels of ornamentation, the foremost variant heavily studded with gemstones and gold trim - with the central swastika in diamonds. The facing plate is of Hermann Göring's appointment as Reichsmarschall. With numerous architectural and landscape studies in pencil by Walter Klinkert, including Salzburg, Pompeii, Rome, and Venice. The final page is headed, "Phantasie," with quotes of Delacroix et al. Faint 1947 library stamp, perhaps a private collection, browning of cover, minor fraying of blank spine, else internally fine. By virtue of its authorship, lavishness, photography, and content, probably intended to be the foremost showpiece of Nazi "culture."
