American politician (1769-1828) who served as senator and who, as Governor of New York, played a major role in the construction of the Erie Canal. ALS, one page, 8 x 9.75, April 1, 1825. Letter to the president of the Senate, sending a list of 12 names nominated for positions in the Orange County Court, as well as one other gentleman listed at the bottom. Signed twice by Clinton, once after the list, and once at the conclusion. In very good condition, with intersecting folds one through a single letter of both signatures, writing and signatures a shade light, but completely legible, a bit of scattered light toning and soiling, and paper loss, a couple tears and mounting remnant to second integral page.
