Devine, TX - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The Adams
Devine, TX - $10 1902 Red Seal Fr. 613 The Adams NB Ch. # (S)7212
Ideally centered with excellent pen signatures and bright inks and color. W.B. Adams chartered this bank in April, 1904 and directed a thirty-year run during which its total issue reached more than $840,000 before liquidation in May, 1934. A mere $3,480 was outstanding at the close and the present day census stands at fourteen notes with just one Red Seal listed in that count, a $20 example grading Fine that sold for $8050 in our Texas Collection sale in 2001. This evening we are honored to offer three $10 Red Seal notes consigned by the granddaughter of W.B. Adams, who received them from her mother Fannie Ilene Adams. W.B. Adams was instrumental to helping the town of Devine, TX develop and prosper. Today this hamlet near San Antonio continues to grow. The first note of this trio is the nicest, grading Very Fine-Extremely Fine. If rarity is any guide here this will most likely remain the finest known Red Seal from this one bank community for many years to come.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
