For your consideration is this Detroit Stove Works classic oak jewel cast iron with nickel-plated trim stove, c.1900. Detroit Stove Works was one of the "big three" stove manufacturers that made Michigan the stove manufacturing capitol of the world. First founded as the J. Dwyer & Company in 1861 by brothers Jeremiah and James Dwyer, the Detroit Stove Works was incorporated in 1864 with the financial backing of Charles DuCharme, a wealthy Detroit hardware dealer. The brothers were the first foundry owners in the region to combine modern engineering practices with foundry work. Their company produced the “Jewel” stove, which by the 1890s was available in 800 different models. This antique piece shows a stamp on the cast iron back indicating "Detroit Stove Works Classic Oak Jewel No. 16" and the front shows, "Jewel Stoves and Ranges". This wood burning stove shows a wonderful ornate design on the cast iron. It has two doors on the front, each with an adjustable vent. This piece is in good structural condition considering it's age, showing some rust. It includes decorative pieces, grate, and tools. This piece measures approximately 58" x 23" x 23"
