<B>Detective Comics #35 Front Cover Only (DC, 1940).</B></I> When it comes to early Batman covers, this incredible and somewhat shocking example, showing vampire-fanged Duc D'Orterre with a huge hypodermic needle in his hand, usually trumps all but those key first appearances (#27 and #38, which introduced Robin). Overstreet considers it a "classic" and notes it actually reflects the story in the previous issue. To be clear, let us state once again that this lot offering is the <I>front cover only</B></I>.
