It has the first appearance of the Manhunter from Mars, which means it's the first significant introduction of a new superhero in the 1950s. The story with the Martian Manhunter (as he's better known today) was drawn by Joe Certa. Mr. J'onzz didn't get cover billing, though - this is <B>Detective</B></I>, after all!
