Detective Comics #136 (DC, 1948) Condition: VF+. A very slight overhang prevented CGC from encapsulating this copy -- too bad, because as of this writing, the census is led by a 9.0 copy, with one 7.5 the nearest runner-up. So you can't go wrong with this VF+ specimen which boasts off-white pages. In the issue's Batman story, Bruce Wayne looks at a centuries-old map and is stunned to see his own handwriting! Only one thing to do, natch -- look up Prof. Carter Nichols and have him send Bruce and Dick Grayson back in time to investigate. Also in the issue are a Boy Commandos feature by Simon and Kirby; Air Wave and Slam Bradley backup features; and even a Captain Tootsie ad with C. C. Beck art. The cover is by ace Dick Sprang. Overstreet 2006 VF 8.0 value = $388; VF/NM 9.0 value = $614. From the Collection of Harold Curtis.
