Belgian soprano (1835–1907) who was famed in German and Italian opera and sang mainly in Germany. In 1868 she was briefly engaged to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who claimed she was the only woman he ever loved. AMQS on an off-white 7.75 x 5 sheet of personal letterhead, dated April 1895, signed at the conclusion in ink, “D. Artot de Padilla.” Artot neatly pens four bars of music and lyrics, identifying it in French (translated): "Easy variations on the air, Barbiere, approved by Rossini, for an earlier extensive voice.” In fine condition.
