Desirable World War II U.S. Army Contract Underwood Production M1 Carbine with Magazine

This is a very nice example of a late WWII US Army M1 Carbine as produced by the Underwood typewriter company in late 1943. It has the standard receiver markings over serial number" 2813964"and the barrel is marked "UNDERWOOD/8-43/ordnance bomb". It is fitted with the following components: type II barrel band, flat blued bolt, flip up rear sight, marked with a "S" on the side, a three- piece brazed trigger housing, unmarked push button safety and a early unmarked M1 carbine magazine release. It is fitted with a high wood stock with "I" cut oiler slot, two rivet handguard with a single circled "P" proof on the flat of the grip and a single Ordnance Bomb proof and a script "Pedersen/U" markings all in the sling slot. This carbine is complete with a new blued GI magazine still in the storage wrapper that is stamped with a "U" on the backside.

Manufacture: Underwood
Model: M1 Carbine
BBL: 18 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 30 Carbine
Finish: parkerized
Grips:
Serial Number: 2813964

Excellent with 95% of the light green parkerized finish overall, with edge and high spot wear with finish loss on the receiver side rail. The stock is also excellent with a nice figure through the butt area with clear distinct markings and proofs, with a small chip/crack starting behind the recoil plate and on the underside behind the trigger housing. A very nice WWII M1 Carbine manufactured by the Underwood Corp.
