Desirable World War II Nazi "jhv" Code Hungarian G98/40 Bolt Action Rifle

The receiver is marked "Eagle/173/'jhv/43". The receiver side wall is marked "G98/40" and the left side of the receiver and barrel has the single Eagle firing proof. These rifles used both stamped and milled components through out production and were fitted with a two-piece walnut stock and handguard. The stock has a single "Eagle/WaA173" proof in front of the trigger guard and pistol grip area, with a "jhv" proof on the lower stock area. With an original leather sling, cleaning rod and front sight hood.

Manufucture: Hungary
Model: 98/40
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: walnut
Guage: 7.92 mm Mauser
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 8766v

Fine with 70% of the blue finish overall. Edge and high spot wear on the bolt and top of the receiver. The stock and handguard are also both fine with much of the original finish. Showing minor handling marks, light scratches and nicks with clear distinct proofmarks. There is a triangular chip of wood missing on the left side of the stock behind the bayonet lug. The sling is good. A fine original example of a German M98/40 rifle.
