Desirable World War II German K98 Mauser High Turret Sniper Rifle with Hensoldt Scope

This is a nice example of an original late WWII German high turret sniper rifle manufactured by the Mauser factory that has been fitted with a Hensoldt sniper scope. The top of the receiver ring is covered by the front turret, however it is probably a late 1944 production rifle. The right side of the receiver has two small Eagle 135 proofs from the Mauser factory with the receiver side wall marked "MOD 98". The rear of the barrel is marked "44O889" and correctly numbered to match the rifle. The rifle has a stamped trigger guard and follower with a set of unnumbered milled barrel bands. The matching bolt is a correct late war version with the milled safety. The rifle is fitted with an early all blue sniper scope made by the Hensoldt scope company with the left side of the tube marked "DIALYTAN 34724/BMJ/blue cross". It has the correct style sniper elevation knob that is graduated from 100-800 meters, with the front and rear rings numbered "23582". The rifle is fitted with a late war laminated stock and matching handguard with an "eagle/waA135" proof.

Excellent. The rifle retains 95% of the original blue finish with wear and thinning on the edges and high spots. The trigger guard and replacement barrel bands have a smooth brown patina. The scope is also excellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish showing some wear and brown patina spots on the front ocular and scope body, and is missing the locking lever on the rear base. The optics are very clear and the elevation knob correctly moves the reticule up and down although it's slightly turned sideways. The stock and handguard has been lightly sanded and varnished, and remains very good with some minor scuffs and dents. A very nice original WWII German high turret sniper rifle.
