Desirable World War II Fully Automatic Class III Savage Arms Company Model 1928A1 Thompson Submachine Gun with U.S. Government Transfer Documentation

This is an excellent example of an original WWII Model 1928A1 Thompson submachine gun as manufactured by the Savage Arms Company. This is the original Model 1928 wartime version as manufactured under a US Government contract that was subsequently overhauled and upgraded to a Model 1928A1 configuration by the U.S. Army and so marked on the left side of the receiver. This specific weapon still has some of the early highly desirable features that are so easily recognized in the Gangster and WWII movies; short 10 1/2 inch finned barrel with ported "CUTTS" marked compensator on the end, the vertical front grip, detachable buttstock and adjustable rear sight. The receiver is marked with "US MODEL OF 1928 A1/NO. S-136818" and farther back "THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN/CALIBER .45 AUTOMATIC CARTRIDGE". The obverse is marked in two-lines "AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/BRIDGEPORT CONNETICUT U.SA." The top of the receiver is marked with the "Thompson Bullet" logo and the underside of the lower trigger groups is numbered "No.S-159764" and it has the correct "A.A" Augusta Arsenal rebuild proof on the lower right side of the buttstock. Documentation with this machine gun shows it was sent to the Anniston Ordnance Depot in February of 1961. This desirable Thompson SMG is complete with one blue 30 round stick magazine.
