Desirable World War I 1911 Dated DWM Model 1908 Military Contract Luger Pistol

This is a very good example of an original WWI Model 1908 Military Luger pistol as manufactured by DWM. This series of Luger was the first true military contract Luger which eventually evolved into the 1914 Military version. These have three distinguishing features: 1) they were originally made without the hold-open device, 2) they don't have the stock lug attachment on the lower frame area and 3) they had military proofmarks and were dated from 1908-13. The chamber area is dated 1911 with DWM marked on the front toggle. The pistol has the correct military proofs on the right side of the barrel extension and the remaining various parts, with the front grip strap stamped "1.E.M.G.10". The full serial number "6241" is stamped on the barrel, barrel extension and frame. The last two digits "41" are on the various other parts. It is correctly marked with "GELADEN" and "GESICHERT" on the extractor and safety area and it is fitted with matching checkered walnut grips and a correct nickel plated magazine with a wooden base which is stamped "Crown/Script letter proof/7649/+/Crown Proof".

Manufucture: DWM
Model: 1908 Military
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Guage: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 6241

Fine with 80% of the much faded original blue finish remaining overall with even honest wear overall with spotting and brown patina on the grip straps. The grips are very fine with nice original checkering on both sides mixed with some minor handling marks. This Luger has all matching numbers except the magazine. A nice early, DWM 1908 Military Luger pistol.
