Desirable Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle, .44 WCF cal., 28” octagon barrel, set trigger, desirable raised thumbprint dust cover, wood stocks, #2295. Copy of a 1991 factory letter confirms barrel length, settrigger and indicates the gun was received in the warehouse on September 25, 1874 and was shipped out the same day. This gun is in overall very good condition retaining a pleasing 50%-70% original bright blue overall evenly drifting to patina with some scattered light erosion and normal aging just starting and some evidence of bright original blue; the markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, the stocks show an excellent repair and small restorations with a light re-application of varnish, good wood-to-metal fit; the hammer and lever show considerable original case hardening, the sights are original, the dust cover and loading gateshow traces of bright original blue, the action is tight, the bore is near excellent.
