Desirable WWII Winchester M1 Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle
This is an excellent example of a scarce, WWII M1 Garand rifle as produced Winchester Repeating Arms under contract for the US Army. This rifle was produced in the third contract range of serial number in late 1942 to late 1943. It has the standard late gray-green parkerized finish overall with the oil finished stock and hand guards. The receiver has the standard markings of "US RIFLE/CAL .30 M1/WINCHESTER/over the serial number". The right side of the barrel has only a single number 9 with a single circled "WP" proof. The rifle has the correct Winchester marked components (operating rod, bolt, and complete trigger group) and the complete gas cylinder assembly is a post war, wide base version that has the later four groove gas plug marked with a "PX" and a post war set of rear sights. The rifle is fitted with a walnut stock and hand guards and the stock carries a boxed "S.A./SHM" cartouche on the left side with a double "P" circled proof in the piston grip area. It is complete with an unmarked 1907 leather sling with steel keepers, a first model chamber cleaning tool, nickel plated oiler and one small grease tube.
BBL: 24 inch round
Stock: walnut

Finish: parkerized

Serial Number: 1631012

Excellent with 95% of the original parkerized finish showing wear on the edges and high spots overall with more wear on the right receiver side rail. The stock is in excellent condition showing minimal handling marks with signs of having been lightly rearsenaled with a clear and sharp cartouche and "P" proofs. The sling is in very to excellent condition, still pliable with no tears or rips, with some verdigris starting to show up. A nice example of a late production Winchester M1 Garand rifle.
