This is a Military production Mauser P08 Luger pistol that was manufactured in 1937. The top of the chamber is dated "1937" and the front toggle has the wartime code of "S/42" for the Mauser factory at Oberndorf. The right side of the barrel extension has the early droop wing eagle/63 Waffenamt proof next to the single eagle firing proof. It has the standard extractor and safety markings. It has the rust blued finish on the metal surfaces with the straw color on the small parts, trigger, take down lever, ejector, safety lever and magazine release button and is fitted with a set of checkered walnut grip and is complete with one all blued magazine with the aluminum base numbered '7612n/+/eagle 63 Waffenamt proof'.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw colors
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 4948s
Condition: Very fine as partially refinished (left frame has cold blue) with 90% of the original blue finish remaining on the balance with edges and high spot wear overall with just some minor thinning on the grip straps, the side of the frame, the front edges of the frame rails, muzzle area, etc. The grips are in near excellent condition with nice sharp checkering overall with just a couple of minor handling marks with a couple of small chips/handling marks on the lower left rear edge of the grip panel. It has all matching numbers except for the magazine as noted above. A very nice example of an early 1937 production Luger with the blued finish and straw colored small parts.
